Uganda
The Rwenzori Mountains, sometimes known as the “Moon Mountains,” are a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the Uganda-Congo border in western Uganda. The equatorial snow peaks are home to Africa’s third highest point, while the lower slopes are covered in moorland, bamboo, and lush, moist montane forest. The national park is home to 70 mammals and 217 bird species, including 19 Albertine Rift endemics and some of the world’s rarest vegetation.
