How to access the place?
Entebbe International Airport is 55 kilometres north of Ssese Islands. The best and most popular way to get there is by MV Kalangala, which departs from Nakiwogo near Entebbe and serves as the archipelago’s main gateway. Transfer time between Nakiwogo and Bugala is approximately three and a half hours.
If you are coming from Bukakata, a free car ferry from western Uganda connects Bukakata mainland (36 km east of Masaka) with Luku on the Bugala Islands and takes about 50 minutes to sail. Ferries sail in both directions every few hours beginning in the early morning and ending in the late afternoon. Sunday morning trips are not available.
