Game drive

The traditional African safari revolves around the game drive,

they can range from a couple of hours to a full day’s excursion, complete with a memorable picnic lunch in the wilderness. after sunset, some reserves allow game drives.

Action-packed daytime game drives

Game drives are typically conducted in the early morning and late afternoon, when temperatures are cooler and animals are more active. Following an early morning wake-up call and a quick bite to eat, you and your guide will set off in search of wildlife, such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, or other herbivores browsing on bushes or grazing on the plains, or predators still feasting on last night’s kill. Afternoon tea will be followed by an afternoon game drive, which will culminate in one of the most enjoyable safari traditions – the sundowner.

Night drives that are fascinating
In private wildlife reserves or concessions, night drives are possible. These drives add a whole new dimension to a safari, allowing guests to experience the mysteries of the bush after dark – the chance to see rare nocturnal creatures like the porcupine and aardvark, or catch a glimpse of an elusive leopard or other predators on the prowl in the dark.

Will I be able to see the “Big Five”?

The Big Five – elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, lion, and leopard – were so named by early big-game hunters because they were the most difficult and dangerous to hunt on foot. Most safaris that we organise provide clients with an excellent opportunity to see the Big Five, though nothing in nature can be guaranteed. But keep in mind that there is so much more to see and do on a safari than just the Big Five.

The term “Big Five” was coined by big-game hunters to refer to the most dangerous animals to hunt. The Big Five of Africa, on the other hand, are the most popular animals among tourists on wildlife safaris today. Among the Big Five, only the buffalo is not threatened or endangered (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant). Observing these African animals in their natural habitat, learning about them, and photographing them is now the sole purpose of encountering them.

The guide will drive the vehicle, and in many reserves, a tracker will sit in a special seat perched on the front of the vehicle to better spot animal tracks on the road ahead.

Private vehicles can also be arranged in advance for a more exclusive safari experience.
